Greetings ASU Sigma Chi Alums | Thu, 04 Apr 2002 |
In an attempt to try and fulfill one of the charges of the ASU House Corporation we are going to try using an email listserv. Some of you (those on the Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter list) may have already received some of the information in this note (in case of that I put it at the bottom so you can skip it when you get down there).
Where to begin...
Well, this is the year that all the houses on Alpha Drive have to put up or shut up with the purchase of the land from ASU. In that regard we are making tremendous strides in this vein. Dan Clements is the new House Corp president (he took over last year from Eric Hitchcock) and Ohio-Dayton Sig Andrew Held of Merrill-Lynch is our Treasurer. I have the honor to be the VP and Secretary as well as being the Chapter Advisor (a position I have held since 1997). In advisor positions we have Skip Wallach, Ted Brookhardt and past Grand Quaestor Mike Dunn helping move us along.
We are hoping to have our loan application for the purchase of the house submitted sometime next week and to embark on some extensive repair and remodel of the property this summer (including paying back local alums that bailed the house out of it financial problems back in 1996).
Since the dark days of '96 and '97 the house has really performed well with a great group of executive officers that guided the house from it's rebuilding phase to the point that it is without a doubt the best on Campus.
A big part of the credit for what has happened at ASU since '97 has to be given to Julie Hitchcock. Julie, in addition to being Eric's mom has performed exceptionally well as our House Mom and I believe that her steading influence has contributed to the success of the house.
If any of you would like to be involved in the House Corporation or as an advisor to the active Chapter let me know we can always use some willing hands and strong hearts.
This email is going out to the 311 ASU Alums that we have email addresses for and I am sure after this mailing that number will drop as I weed out bad addresses, so if you know the email addresses for other ASU Brothers please drop me a note with them so that I can add them to the list.
This summer towards the end of June the Phoenix Alumni Chapter will be hosting their Annual Founder's Day Golf Tournament at the Karsten Ping course at ASU. If you would like to play please let Dan Clements know by sending him an email at dclements@ft.NewYorkLife.com
For those in the Phoenix Area who are not on the PhoenixSig email list drop me a note and I will add you to that list. Following is the note that was sent out about next weeks meeting

ASU Active Chapter Update
Things are progressing with the efforts to purchase the house by the deadline of August 31, 2002 and hopefully by the time of the next Alumni Chapter meeting the House Corp will have submitted the loan application. We are planning on some pretty extensive remodeling over the summer and are planning on hosting an event for all Sigma Chi alums this coming fall.
